Instructions on Adjusting Teaching Methods in the First Semester of 111 Academic Year in Accordance with Anti-epidemic Regulations (2022/10/7)

On October 7, 2022, the Ministry of Education announced and amended the ” Guidelines for the Management of Epidemic Prevention and Universities in Response to COVID-19″. Since September 12, 2022, the university epidemic prevention team has made the decision that the university adopts physical (in person) teaching for this semester, and asks teachers to prepare online teaching (synchronous or asynchronous) materials to secure the right of education for students who cannot come to school due to the epidemic (including students who have been asked for epidemic prevention leave and foreign students who have not yet been able to enter the country).

Please refer to the relevant documents announced on the website of the Academic Affairs Office (the link is attached at the end of the article), and follow the guidelines of the Ministry of Education to handle the relevant epidemic prevention measures.

The key points of the epidemic prevention guidelines are summarized as follows:

1. For confirmed and rapid test positive cases, you are not allowed to attend classes during the 7-day home care period. After the period expires and you are asymptomatic, you can enter the class and go to class normally.

2. Roommates in the same dormitory with the confirmed or quick-test positive cases are not allowed to attend classes during home isolation. During the self-prevention period, those who are asymptomatic and have a negative result of quick-test within two days can attend school (classes). But those with symptoms are still not allowed to attend school (classes). Only after the period expires and you are asymptomatic, then you can enter the class and go to class normally.

3. Teachers and students of school courses, clubs and activities have taken off their masks for more than 15 minutes with confirmed or quick-test positive cases can go to classes normally if their rapid tests are negative and they are asymptomatic.

4. Physical class

(1) Teachers are recommended to wear masks when teaching. If there are special teaching needs, they can wear transparent masks. Students should wear masks throughout the course and disinfect their hands regularly. Eating and drinking are prohibited during the class.

(2) The classroom should be well ventilated and sterilised regularly, and the equipment used in class should be properly disinfected after class.

2. Physical Education, Swimming, Lab/Practicum, Performing Arts Classes

(1) Physical Education: A mask should be worn throughout lecture session in the classroom in physical education. During physical activity, however, a mask is not necessary if there are no respiratory symptoms and if social distance can be maintained with other personnel. Teachers and students should carry masks with them and should wear them before or after exercise.

(2) Swimming class: It is required to measure body temperature, disinfect the environment and facilities, maintain air circulation, closely monitor the residual chlorine level of water quality, and wear masks throughout the course except when swimming and using specific facilities.

(3) Laboratory/Practicum Classes: Students should be divided into fixed groups and avoid sharing equipment and devices. If there is a need to take turns to use of equipment or devices, they should be disinfected every time before use.

(4) Performing Arts Classes: Except for singing, dancing or performing wind instruments, masks must be worn throughout the class. Please adjust the practice time accordingly to avoid discomfort caused by wearing masks for a long period of time (Note: Those who have cardiovascular disease or respiratory allergies should avoid participating).
